Description

Projection lamp was a project initiated at University that ended up in publication about contemporary software use in architecture and design: “Informed Architecture”.

Interior spaces are strongly defined by its shape and materialization, as two of most important and unchangeable traits. However, the impression of space can be altered by different lighting conditions to the point where the user will perceive completely different experiences. And that was the main idea for design here: creating a lamp that will redefine the effect of space on user with shadow shape.

Parametric design in this case was used for “reverse projection”, that is defining projection shape based on projected one (opposite to “real” projection). In analytical algebra, this problem is solved with a set of equations, while program used here relies more on Euclidean geometry and defines light rays as lines.
